Role summary

We’re working with Long Island Ophthalmic Concepts (LIOC), a highly regarded ophthalmology practice with locations in Bellmore and Great Neck, NY, to find an experienced and patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team where your skills will make a real difference. In this role, you’ll take ownership of daily clinic operations, deliver excellent patient care, support clinical decision-making, and mentor junior team members. What you'll do
  • Build rapport with patients and document their medical histories.
  • Conduct pre-exam tests such as visual acuity assessments, OCT scans, and visual fields.
  • Assist physicians with clinical procedures and manage prescription workflows.
  • Train and mentor new staff, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Stuff you may have done before
  • Experience with patient intake, screening, and diagnostic testing in a clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and managing accurate medical documentation.
  • Exposure to insurance processes, billing, or administrative support functions.
  • Supporting clinical operations and maintaining exam room readiness.
Must-haves
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, ideally ophthalmology.
  • Professional communication and strong patient service skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical software.
  • Willingness to work at both Bellmore and Great Neck offices and occasionally on Saturdays.
  • A commitment to confidentiality, detail, and high standards of care.

Your first 90 days
  • Independently managing clinic operations and patient flow.
  • Accurately documenting patient records and assisting with exams.
  • Delivering warm, reliable service to every patient.
  • Supporting your team and mentoring newer staff members.
  • Gaining a clear understanding of the clinic’s systems and how you can improve efficiency.
