Responsibilities:

  • Performs preliminary screening for physician's review including, but not limited to obtaining ocular and medical history, visual acuity measuring, applanation tonometry, pupil, and basic motility assessment.
  • Responsible for diagnostic testing (OCT, Optos, HVF, IOL Master).
  • Assists with office flow.
  • Sterilizes and sets up instruments; assists with minor office procedures.
  • Maintains instruments used including, but not limited to bio-microscopes, lensometer, tangent screen.
  • Organizes and stocks consultation rooms and microbiology laboratory with drugs and other supplies as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant working in a clinical or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (former experience with Nextech is a plus).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Experience with slit lamp microscope and basic patient work-ups.
  • Working knowledge of eye anatomy, retina disease, and ocular medications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA).

Salary: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
