Job summary

Visionary Ophthalmology in Washington, DC, seeks an Ophthalmic Surgical Coordinator for our DC office, with occasional travel to the Rockville office. This full-time role involves coordinating all pre-operative steps and serving as a liaison among patients, the practice, and surgical facilities.

The position supports education, counseling, scheduling services, and financial discussions with prospective vision correction patients, involving refractive lasers, IOL surgery, and related testing.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of work experience in a healthcare setting.
• Two or more years of surgical or scheduling coordinator experience required (Ophthalmology preferred).
• Ability to communicate effectively with others and use good listening skills.
• Organizational skills and following a systematic method of performing a task.

Responsibilities

• Act as main conduit of information between patient, practice, primary care and surgical facility throughout the surgery process.
• Comply with all practice procedures and protocols and with State and Federal regulations.
• Educate patients about available resources and what to expect during their visit.
• Receive, respond to and direct patient communications, including calls, emails and faxes.
• Coordinate necessary documentation for surgical procedures and gather medical information to assist in coordinating patient care.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
