Louisiana Eye & Laser Center is seeking a Patient Counselor to schedule ophthalmic surgeries at the ambulatory surgery center and area hospitals, and to liaise between patients, surgeons, facilities and preop staff. The position requires knowledge of ophthalmic practice and insurance coverage, strong communication, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Experience in medical practice is preferred; ophthalmology exposure is a plus.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
2 years in medical practice experience preferred.
Ophthalmology practice preferred.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and spoken communication.
Attention to detail and patient confidentiality.
Ability to work with EMR systems.
Responsibilities
Maintains surgical schedule for surgeons.
Acts as liaison between patient, surgeon, facility and preop staff.
Communicates scheduling, preop testing, insurance requirements and consents to patients.
Coordinates paperwork and maintains patient confidentiality.
Keeps daily log and weekly spreadsheet.
Attends required meetings.
