Job summary

Prism Vision Group’s Schefkind Eye Care in Alexandria, VA is seeking an onsite Surgical Coordinator. You will interface with patients, surgeons, and facilities to schedule pre-operative testing and ophthalmic surgeries, ensuring pre-op requirements are understood and met.

You will manage patient communications, chart completion, and coordination across the care team, with occasional travel as needed. Strong organizational and clinical knowledge support efficient surgical workflows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in a healthcare setting.
• Education: High School/GED; Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communications in English; bilingual a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficient with multiple electronic systems and general computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgery-related activities and pre-op testing with facilities.
• Organize patient charts and collect information for upcoming procedures.
• Coordinate pre-op visits with PCP and labs and document in EMR.
• Obtain preauthorizations for surgery and medications as required.
• Coordinate tissue orders for corneal transplants and liaise with physicians.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate charting across systems.
