Job summary

Associated Retinal Consultants in Grand Rapids, MI seeks an Ophthalmic Scribe / Technician to support physicians and perform initial patient workups in a clinic setting.

The role requires ophthalmic terminology knowledge, EMR proficiency, and strong attention to detail. You will assist with examinations, document histories, and help ensure accurate coding and patient care in a fast-paced ophthalmology practice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with ophthalmic terminology and EMR systems is essential.
• Preferred COA/COT or OSC certifications for credentialing.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent typing speed are expected.

Responsibilities

• Scribe for Physicians and perform preliminary patient workups.
• Prepare patients and rooms for treatments and minor procedures.
• Record patient histories, meds, allergies, and family eye history.
• Measure visual acuity, refractive checks, and intraocular pressures.
• Assist with examinations and patient education as directed by physicians.
• Maintain proper room setup, stock supplies, and ensure accurate coding.
• Input procedures and charges into EMR with correct diagnosis codes.
• Travel to other locations as assigned as needed.
