Job summary

Endeavor Health, Glenview-based, is seeking an Ophthalmic Medical Assistant at Glenbrook Hospital. This full-time role (40 hours) runs 7:45 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with some travel to Lake Bluff locations.

You will support ophthalmology clinics, collect payments, schedule in-office and OR procedures, and educate patients about LASIK and related services. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and at least one year of ophthalmology patient-support experience;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification through the American Heart Association required.
• One year experience in ophthalmology patient support or related field; working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred; Epic knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive payments from patients and provide receipts and change.
• Schedule in-office and OR ophthalmology procedures (various subspecialties).
• Educate patients on LASIK/PRK/PTK, lasers, and pre/post-operative care.
• Communicate ophthalmic procedure costs and payment processes to patients.
• Record visual acuity, lensometry, and Amsler grid for patients.
• Verify prescription benefits in EPIC.
• Review of Systems and past medical history elements.
• Document allergies, vitals, and pain as needed.
• Ensure accurate medical history and HPI with required elements.
• Conduct medication history review and allergies documentation.
• Assist with ophthalmology clinic workflow.
