Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant at the Glenview Outpatient clinic to provide clinical support and patient care. The role requires performing tests to aid diagnosis, prognosis, and follow-up, while assisting physicians and maintaining equipment.

Required: High School diploma or GED, BLS, COA (within 1 year of hire). 0–2 years’ related experience is acceptable. Schedule is Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays; full-time 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• COA certification through JCAHPO required within 1 year of hire; MD graduates exempt.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients and documents histories.
• Performs technical workups and tests (refractions, tonometry, OCT, topography, etc.).
• Assists physician with patient care and minor surgery.
• Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, and scheduling.
• Maintains and cleans equipment; reports deficiencies.
