Job summary

Delaware Valley Retina Associates in Langhorne, PA is seeking an ophthalmic assistant for an onsite, non-exempt role. The position involves patient chart review, history taking, ocular testing, scribe duties, medication administration, and patient education.

Occasional travel to other Prism Vision Group sites may be required. Ideal candidates have 0–2 years OA1 experience or 2+ years OAII experience, and a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s preferred).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience (OA1).
• 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience (OAII).
• Experience with entering data into EMR systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Perform testing (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Conduct slit lamp exams and related procedures.
• Assist physician as scribe and document in EMR or paper charts.
• Administer topical or oral medications as directed.
• Support office procedures and obtain informed consent.
• Educate patients and manage patient flow.
• Maintain exam room cleanliness and order throughout the day.
• Follow all procedures, protocols and regulatory requirements.
