Job summary

The Retina Group of Washington is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to perform measurements and tests that support the physician's diagnosis and treatment planning. You will document results accurately in EMR or paper charts and ensure compliance with standards.

You will assist with patient education, maintain exam room cleanliness, manage patient flow, and support safe exam procedures including OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry and biometry, with appropriate PPE as required.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• Experience using ophthalmic testing equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing such as OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry and biometry.
• Performs lensometry, automated refractometry, slit lamp exam including tonometry and anterior chamber angle assessment.
• Acts as scribe while the physician examines patients, entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists ensuring office procedures are adhered to and required informed consent is obtained.
• Assists with patient education.
• Oversees patient flow throughout the day.
