Job summary

The Retina Group of Washington is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to perform measurements and tests, documenting in EMR to aid physician diagnosis and treatment decisions. The role includes patient interactions, exams, and assisting with procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• Vision, hearing and PPE requirements; standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Takes ocular/systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs tests (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exams and tonometry.
• Assists with advanced ophthalmic procedures and acts as scribe.
• Administers medications and ensures informed consent.
• Aids patient education and manages patient flow and exam rooms.
