Job summary

Key-Whitman Eye Center is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant in McKinney to support physicians with diagnostic testing, patient history, and documentation in the EMR. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced ophthalmology setting.

Responsibilities include lensometry, visual acuity testing, tonometry, medication administration, and assisting with procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year Medical/Ophthalmic Scribe experience preferred.
• JCAHPO certification preferred.
• CPR preferred.
• Proficiency in a second language desirable.
• HIPAA knowledge and compliance required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain accurate patient history.
• Perform lensometry and basic diagnostic tests.
• Input patient information and treatment plans in the EMR.
• Take visual acuity and basic ocular measurements.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications and perform tonometry.
• Assist physicians with procedures and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional communication.
