Job summary

Roadrunner seeks an Operations Supervisor to oversee dock operations and off-hours Customer Service in Houston, TX. You will supervise staff, coordinate load planning, manage contractor relations, and ensure safety, data accuracy, and cost control to drive profitability.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 1–2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employers.
• Proficient PC skills and ability to coordinate with internal/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Supervises dock operations and personnel, including load planning, deliveries, and contractor utilization.
• Maintains a clean, safe work environment and ensures safety compliance.
• Coordinates with contractors on loading/unloading, equipment leases, DOT qualifications, and settlements.
• Ensures accurate freight routing, data entry, and paperwork procedures to support service center profitability.
• Provides leadership and feedback to staff, and motivates teams to meet company goals.
• Traces and updates freight information and paperwork; covers for other positions as needed.
• Operates within policy guidelines with independent judgment to achieve objectives.
