Job summary

National Oilwell Varco is seeking an Operations Supervisor in Carlsbad, NM to manage Cyclops Setting Tool operations and Fortress processes. You will coordinate with customer field reps, supervise tool assembly, testing, and onboarding while maintaining tool readiness and safety standards.

The role requires hands-on tool experience, weekend availability, strong problem-solving, and leadership to drive a disciplined, proactive maintenance culture.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background with downhole tools used in pump-down operations (wireline setting tools, frac plugs, perforating guns).
• Self-motivated and detail oriented.
• Able to work weekends and holidays as needed to support field operations.
• Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication, and operational management skills.
• Working knowledge of Windows 10 OS and Microsoft Office.
• Forklift training.
• Proficiency with basic hand tools.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
• May require periodic travel to other districts to meet company needs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Cyclops Setting Tools with customer field representatives.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, rebuild, and test Fortress Cyclops Setting Tools per Fortress Work Instructions.
• Provide technical support/onboarding to customers for Fortress Cyclops Setting Tools.
• Ensure all necessary equipment and tools are available and adequately maintained.
• Enforce QA/QC policies and procedures.
• Ensure safety training and PPE are up to date for all employees.
• Coordinate tool needs between shop and upper management.
• Interview, hire, and fire Tool Assistants and Specialists.
• Train and progress shop personnel.
• Create scheduling and grading of employees.
• Maintain reports on ongoing jobs and activity for Fortress management.
• Maintain adequate inventory levels.
• Oversee technicians time sheets/days off.
• Ensure housekeeping is kept to a high standard daily.
• Maintain professionalism with honesty and integrity.
• Grow an upbeat, diverse, unique work culture.
• Proactively identify and solve issues before they become problems.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Job description

The Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Facility Manager. Responsibilities will include the implementation and management of the Fortress Downhole Tools Cyclops Setting Tool Recycling program, including the coordination, performance, and execution of Fortress processes and procedures. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the quality of the Fortress supplied products meets or exceeds the customer’s requirements and maintains the standard of excellence established by Fortress Downhole Tools.
