  • Oversee ACH, wire transfer, check processing, and card transaction activity with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Support dispute resolution, risk mitigation, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with compliance, risk management, and treasury teams to ensure secure and efficient banking operations.
  • 6–10 years of relevant banking operations, payments operations, deposit operations, or similar financial services experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ACH processing, wire transfers, check processing, deposit account maintenance, and payment operations.
  • Understanding of NACHA rules, Fedwire regulations, settlement requirements, and banking compliance standards.
  • Experience with ACH returns, wire recalls, check disputes, and debit or credit card chargeback processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage deadlines in a high-volume operations environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Los Altos, CA, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure payment activity complies with NACHA rules, Fedwire regulations, settlement deadlines, and applicable banking standards.
  • Monitor daily payment volumes and support timely, accurate processing of critical banking transactions.
  • Oversee dispute resolution activity, including ACH returns, wire recall requests, check disputes, and debit or credit card chargebacks.
  • Partner with risk management, compliance, and treasury teams to improve processes, strengthen controls, and reduce operational risk.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Payments Operations Officer for a direct hire opportunity in Los Altos, CA. This full-time banking operations role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong experience in deposit operations, ACH processing, wire transfers, check processing, and payment compliance.

The Payments Operations Officer will help manage critical day-to-day payment and deposit operations while supporting accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and risk mitigation. Key Responsibilities

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range: $85,000 to $95,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a bank, credit union, or consumer lending environment.
  • Experience supporting both RDFI and ODFI ACH activity.
  • Familiarity with payment risk controls, audit support, and operational procedure improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with treasury, compliance, and risk management teams.
