Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) team seeks an Associate in Operations & Manufacturing to lead large client engagements, designing and implementing manufacturing and supply chain solutions for portfolio companies. You will partner with PE leadership and client teams to deliver measurable improvements.

Ideal candidates bring 2–5+ years in manufacturing/distribution, deep Lean/Six Sigma expertise, and strong analytical abilities. This role is open to U.S.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years specializing in manufacturing and/or distribution.
• Deep functional expertise in at least one of the following areas: supply chain/ manufacturing operations, lean, Six Sigma, CapEx planning, Manufacturing 4.0/IIoT, or value engineering.
• Excellent fact‑gathering and analytical skills with process mapping and quantitative analysis.
• Experience designing and leading change/communication strategies and driving execution.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of a target’s manufacturing and distribution operations.
• Evaluate the maintainability and operability of production facilities.
• Review data to assess efficiency and capacity, including equipment conditions and production numbers.
• Provide shop-floor insights by engaging with employees and customers and reviewing data.
• Identify cost improvement opportunities through lean improvements, outsourcing, or consolidation of facilities.
• Develop transformation plans and identify risks and mitigation strategies.
• Implement and oversee the quality of deliverables and manage the team and day‑to‑day relationships.
