Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal seeks an Associate in Operations & Manufacturing to join the Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) team. You will lead large client engagements with private equity leadership to identify, design, and implement operational improvements for portfolio companies.

The role emphasizes deep manufacturing and distribution expertise, data-driven analysis, and transformation planning to deliver measurable cost and performance improvements. The position is open to U.S.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 3 years specializing in manufacturing and/or distribution functions.
• Deep functional expertise in at least one of the following: supply chain operations, manufacturing operations, SI&OP, footprint optimization, plant consolidation, product line transfer, manufacturing strategy, CapEx planning, Manufacturing 4.0/IIoT, lean, Six Sigma, TOC, or value engineering.
• Excellent fact‑gathering and analytical skills, including business process mapping and quantitative analysis.
• Experience designing and leading the execution of internally‑focused and externally‑focused change/communications strategy.
• Previous strategy and change management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of target manufacturing and distribution operations, including organization design, capacity, efficiency, quality, planning, warehousing, and team capability.
• Evaluate the maintainability and operability of production facilities.
• Review current and historical data to assess efficiency and capacity, including equipment conditions, maintenance logs, spare parts, and detailed production numbers.
• Provide shop-floor insights by engaging with employees and customers and reviewing all available data.
• Identify potential cost improvement opportunities through lean improvements, outsourcing, or consolidation of facilities.
• Develop transformation plans to drive proposed changes and identify key risks and mitigation strategies.
• Implement and oversee the quality of deliverables and manage the team and day-to-day relationships to ensure exceptional performance.
