Job summary

AWP Safety is seeking an Operations Manager in Bakersfield, CA to support the West Division. You will provide leadership, implement core values, and oversee staff development while upholding safety and customer satisfaction.

You will lead recruitment, forecast staffing needs, ensure regulatory compliance, and supervise daily operations including payroll, scheduling, and benefits. Focus on growth, turnover reduction, and strong customer relations.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of management experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and coaching abilities.
• Experience in managing profit and loss (P&L).
• Preferred experience in process improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
• Proven experience in business development and developing high-performing teams.
• Significant experience in building and maintaining customer relationships.
• Ability to develop and execute business plans.
• Commitment to safety in the workplace and adherence to policies.
• Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to create and maintain safe work practices.
• Manage a team of 25-50 employees.
• Ensure compliance with Company, Local, State, and Federal safety regulations.
• Protect employees, customers, and assets from losses, injuries, and accidents.
• Foster team building through effective leadership and regular communication.
• Utilize data to forecast staffing needs and plan accordingly.
• Investigate incidents and develop preventative measures.
• Oversee work zone setup/design and professional flagging credentials.
• Maintain traffic control, safety, and supervisor credentials.
• Participate in recruiting and hiring in collaboration with HR.
• Conduct new hire orientation and ongoing training.
• Facilitate safety and committee meetings.
• Track asset usage, timekeeping, and payroll for projects.
• Address customer service issues promptly and professionally.
