Job summary

Inland Deicing Services, a division of Inland Group, is seeking an Operations Manager at IAD to oversee daily airport operations, hire and train staff, and drive quality assurance programs to ensure safety and on-time performance.

The role requires 5+ years of operations management experience, budget oversight, and knowledge of FAA/TSA, hazmat, and airport procedures. Local travel to DCA may be required.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in related field required.
  • 5 years of operations management experience with budget oversight.
  • Must pass background and clearance requirements.
  • Knowledge of FAA/TSA, hazmat, SIDA, and airport procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations at the assigned station and provide leadership and coaching.
  • Conduct station audits and respond to airline and FAA inquiries.
  • Develop relationships with Airport Authority and existing customers.
  • Communicate updates to airline manuals and coordinate safety investigations.
  • Monitor equipment maintenance and provide safety training.

Operations Manager - IAD (Washington Dulles International Airport)

Position Overview:

As the Operations Manager, you will oversee operational activities at assigned station. To include hiring and training employees and managing quality assurance programs, strategizing process improvements to ensure everyone completes their tasks on schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
  • Manage all aspects of the daily operations as well as provide leadership and coaching to increase overall safety, performance, maintenance, flight operations, facility requirements and customer service;
  • Perform station audits, provide information needed for airline reports, and handle all airline and FAA questions/concerns as required;
  • Develop and expand working relationships and communications with Airport Authority and existing customer base;
  • Communicate regularly on airline manual updates to provide information to employees and coordinate with the Director on investigations of any security issues, accident reviews and be a part of the review and recommendation process for safety measures taken to prevent further occurrences;
  • Monitor maintenance on all material handling equipment and provide safety training for all base employees;
Required Skills and Experience:
  • BA/BS in related field of study required;
  • Equivalent combination of education and personal experience considered;
  • Successful completion of required background and clearance requirements;
  • Must have 5 years manager experience handling operations and demonstrated ability to manage budgets;
  • AOSSP/MSP, FAA/TSA, dangerous goods, Air carrier Hazmat, SIDA, and Equipment Certification;
  • A broad range of airline operational experience including but not limited to customer service, operations, maintenance, flight operations, facility requirements, airport management and safety/regulatory requirements;
  • Knowledge of regulatory and airline policies, warehouse procedures, operating station equipment, and aircraft handling procedures;
  • Excellent time management;
  • Basic understanding of accounting management principles;
  • Knowledge of converting kilos and pounds, tariff book usage and rate application;
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);
  • A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
  • Local Travel required to DCA.
Work Environment:
  • Office environment with the potential of remaining seated for extended periods of time;
  • Continuous use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse;
  • Warehouse - physically strenuous, prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to noise (may be excessive at times), safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, in and around heavy moving equipment;
  • Outdoor - prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles;
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, speak and hear efficiently;
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling;
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • May be exposed to hazards inherent in airport operations, including noise, vehicles, equipment, and weather, all of which are well-managed with a high level of training, personal protective equipment, and safety procedures.
