Job summary

The Inland Group of Companies is seeking a Fluid Plant Equipment Operator to support de-icing operations at the airport. The role requires safe, efficient operation and preservation of equipment used for aircraft de-icing including trucks and glycol processing systems.

Eligible candidates must be 18+, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and have basic computer skills and a valid driver's license. On-the-job training and advancement opportunities are included.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Able to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Eligible to obtain an Airport Badge.
  • Basic computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to use hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and preserve de-icing equipment and trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and complete logs and checklists.
  • Maintain records of light maintenance and report repairs.
  • Follow SOPs, safety rules, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with team and management for efficient operations.
  • Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
  • Contribute suggestions for improved efficiency.

Position Overview: Equipment Operator

Work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and preservation of equipment utilized for the purpose of tasks related to the use of aircraft de-icing fluid (ADF), including Aircraft De-Icing Trucks, Glycol Recovery Vehicles and Processing/Distillation Equipment, while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders.

General Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
  • Abide by procedural handbooks of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), safety manual, operational plans and management direction to ensure all work is performed according to defined specifications and/or regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all government legislation related to labor, health and safety, regulations and policies.
  • Preserve the Company’s reputation through professional and cooperative interactions with external stakeholders including the airport authority, security personnel and the public.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections utilizing appropriate checklists and other forms.
  • Perform and maintain records of light maintenance tasks on equipment and immediately report any repair requirements.
  • Regularly and proactively inspect, maintain and monitor equipment to ensure optimum efficiency and report all issues and inconsistencies to on-duty lead and/or manager.
  • Accurate completion of all associated paperwork and logging books
  • Work cooperatively with all team members and external stakeholders involved in the completion of assigned duties.
  • Use all required personal protective equipment appropriate for specific tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and hazard-free workplace at all times.
  • Make suggestions to management for any efficiency improvements.
  • Ad-hoc assignments as requested by on-duty lead and/or manager.
  • General labor duties as assigned.
Required Skills And Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old;
  • Must be able to work Holiday's, weekends, 2nd shift (Afternoons) and 3rd shift (Overnights) as required
  • Able to successfully test for and receive an Airport Badge;
  • Successful completion of all classroom and on-the-job training;
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively in English;
  • Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals;
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent;
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations;
  • Ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle in inclement weather;
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft and how they perform;
  • General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools;
  • Driving record that meets Company insurance standards;
  • Ability to maintain a positive, good-natured attitude;
  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints;
  • A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
Work Environment
  • Continuous use of a computer, keyboard, data entry and record keeping;
  • Warehouse - physically strenuous, prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to noise (may be excessive at times), safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, in and around heavy moving equipment;
  • Outdoor - prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.
Physical Demands
  • The position involves sitting and standing for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
  • May be necessary to work at heights up to 40+ feet;
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs
