Job summary

Inland Deicing Services is seeking an Operations Manager at IAD to oversee daily station operations, hire and train staff, and drive safety, quality, and on-time performance in a busy airport environment. The ideal candidate has a BA/BS, 5+ years of operations management, and knowledge of FAA/TSA, Hazmat and airline policies; strong budgeting, communication, and MS Office skills are essential.

  • BA/BS in related field required.
  • 5+ years of operations management experience.
  • Background and clearance requirements must be met.
  • FAA/TSA, Hazmat, SIDA, and equipment certification knowledge preferred.
  • Strong budgeting, communication, and regulatory understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily station operations and provide leadership to staff.
  • Hire, train, and coach employees; manage budgets and QA programs.
  • Conduct station audits and respond to airline/FAA inquiries.
  • Develop relationships with Airport Authority and customers; implement improvements.
  • Monitor safety, maintenance of equipment, and regulatory compliance.

To include hiring and training employees and managing quality assurance programs, strategizing process improvements to ensure everyone completes their tasks on schedule.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):• Manage all aspects of the daily operations as well as provide leadership and coaching to increase overall safety, performance, maintenance, flight operations, facility requirements and customer service;• Perform station audits, provide information needed for airline reports, and handle all airline and FAA questions/concerns as required;• Develop and expand working relationships and communications with Airport Authority and existing customer base;• Communicate regularly on airline manual updates to provide information to employees and coordinate with the Director on investigations of any security issues, accident reviews and be a part of the review and recommendation process for safety measures taken to prevent further occurrences;• Monitor maintenance on all material handling equipment and provide safety training for all base employees;Required Skills and Experience:• BA/BS in related field of study required;• Equivalent combination of education and personal experience considered;• Successful completion of required background and clearance requirements;• Must have 5 years manager experience handling operations and demonstrated ability to manage budgets;• AOSSP/MSP, FAA/TSA, dangerous goods, Air carrier Hazmat, SIDA, and Equipment Certification;• A broad range of airline operational experience including but not limited to customer service, operations, maintenance, flight operations, facility requirements, airport management and safety/regulatory requirements;• Knowledge of regulatory and airline policies, warehouse procedures, operating station equipment, and aircraft handling procedures;• Excellent time management;• Basic understanding of accounting management principles;• Knowledge of converting kilos and pounds, tariff book usage and rate application;• Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);• A valid driver’s license is required for this position.Local Travel required to DCA.Work Environment:• Office environment with the potential of remaining seated for extended periods of time;• Continuous use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse;• Warehouse - physically strenuous, prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to noise (may be excessive at times), safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, in and around heavy moving equipment;• Outdoor - prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles;Physical Demands:• Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, speak and hear efficiently;• Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling;• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.• May be exposed to hazards inherent in airport operations, including noise, vehicles, equipment, and weather, all of which are well-managed with a high level of training, personal protective equipment, and safety procedures.Other Duties:This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.The Inland Group of Companies offers a variety of opportunities to work in the field of aviation.
