Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced HVAC Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our mechanical HVAC construction division. You will collaborate with Project Management, Estimating, Field Operations, and leadership to organize, support, and optimize projects and people.

The role requires a proactive, organized leader with strong HVAC knowledge and a track record of building efficient processes, driving accountability, and enabling team success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in HVAC/mechanical construction, PM, or operations.
• Leadership or management experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial mechanical/HVAC construction.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to hold teams accountable.
• Experience developing processes, procedures, and systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the HVAC construction division.
• Coordinate project assignments and workload across Project Managers.
• Facilitate the transition of awarded projects from Estimating to Project Management.
• Identify workflow issues and implement improvements to increase efficiency and accountability.
• Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and operational processes.
• Monitor project workload, staffing, and resource needs.
• Support Project Managers in resolving operational and project-related issues.
• Coordinate employee time-off requests and ensure appropriate coverage.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and employee development.
• Lead and improve communication between Estimating, Project Management, and Field Operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve project execution, productivity, and profitability.
• Provide operational updates, recommendations, and support to company leadership.
• Help establish a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our mechanical HVAC construction division. This position is a key member of our leadership team and will work closely with Project Management, Estimating, Field Operations, and company leadership to ensure projects and people are organized, supported, and operating efficiently. The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized leader who understands mechanical construction, knows how to improve operations, and takes ownership of building effective processes, solving problems, and helping the team succeed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate project assignments and workload across Project Managers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical construction, project management, or operations.
• Previous leadership or management experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial mechanical/HVAC construction.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to hold teams accountable.
• Experience developing processes, procedures, and systems.

PREFERRED TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Sheets, Google Drive, and project management software like Procore.
• HVAC and estimating experience, including reviewing vendor/subcontractor quotes and completing takeoffs for rough materials.
• Great driving record and clean criminal background check.
• Experience with project budget setup, cost coding, and budget management.
• Ability to issue and track purchase orders, subcontracts, and submittals, ensuring compliance with contract documents.
• Familiarity with cost projections, reviewing cost reports, and projecting final profit based on physical progress and budget.
