Job summary

Morningstar Marinas is seeking an experienced marina manager to oversee day-to-day operations at our Southport location. You will lead a motivated team, ensure safety, and drive customer-focused service while understanding revenue drivers and profit margins.

You will manage forklift operations, mentor staff, and implement efficiencies to improve overall performance and occupancy. A strong business mindset and hands-on approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in a physical operation with supervisory duties.
• Ability to lead and manage a team, including scheduling and evaluations.
• Certification in Marina management preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Report to the General Manager of the marina.
• Create and operate in a clean, secure environment ensuring safety.
• Provide premium customer service aligned with marina goals.
• Understand marina revenue drivers and profit margins.
• Operate the marina forklift(s) confidently.
• Coach, mentor, and develop the marina staff.

What You'll Do:

• Report to the General Manager of the marina
• Create, and operate in a clean and secure environment that ensures the absolute safety of our employees and customers alike.
• Recognize the value of premium customer service and execute practices that are beneficial to both the customer and the needs and goals of the marina.
• Have a firm grasp on the marina business. Knows the primary revenue drivers, as well as the areas with the highest profit margins.
• Become an expert operator of our marina forklift(s)
• Coach, mentor, and develop the best trained marina staff in the business
• Drive efficiencies, implement operational improvements, and constantly strive for customer satisfaction

QualificationsWhat You Need:

• At least 5 years of experience working in, or overseeing, a physical operation with supervisory experience, required.
• Ability to lead and manage a team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
• Certified Marina Manager (CMM) from the Association of Marina Industries (AMI) preferred but not required.
• First aid, CPR, and other safety certifications are preferred.
• Awareness of environmentally friendly practices to minimize the marina’s ecological footprint.
• Independence & intuition; curiosity & creativity.
• Solid problem-solving skills: the ability to address immediate needs and quickly find resolutions to issues.
• A strong willingness to learn not just the immediate duties, but those of the entire marina operation.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase marina occupancy, boat rentals, and ancillary income.
• Understand Key Metric Results, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
• Understanding of organizational financial processes and knowledge of profit and loss statements.
• Plan and prioritizes and make deadlines aligned with organizational goals.
• Top-notch verbal and written communication skills.
• Overseeing the supply and storage of marina equipment, parts, and materials.
• An associate’s degree: a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with marina management software, booking systems, and general office tools.
