Operations Manager
Operations Salt Lake City, UT Full Time $80,000–$85,000/yr Reports to David Newman
About This Role
The Operations Supervisor serves as a strategic extension of the Operations Manager and is responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day execution of the Operations Department, including warehouse operations, distribution center (DC) facilities, RMA, warranty, logistics, import/export, and operational support functions. This role supervises the Operations Support Team, provides leadership and direction to Warehouse Supervisors when delegated or during the Operations Manager\'s absence, and ensures operational issues are resolved at the appropriate level. The Operations Supervisor is entrusted with responsibilities that have direct financial impact, including inventory adjustments, and may lead strategic initiatives assigned directly by the Vice President of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary backup to the Operations Manager during absences, vacations, or delegated assignments.
- Assume full authority to direct Warehouse Supervisors and the Operations Support Team during coverage periods.
- Resolve operational, staffing, and service issues while minimizing unnecessary escalation to the Vice President of Operations.
- Keep the Operations Manager informed of significant operational issues, decisions, and outcomes.
- Support consistent execution across warehouse, distribution center, RMA, warranty, logistics, import/export, and operational support functions.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and coordinate cross-functional solutions.
- Partner with Warehouse Supervisors to ensure departmental priorities, productivity, and standard operating procedures are consistently executed.
- Supervise the Operations Support Team, including work assignments, training, coaching, performance management, and performance evaluations.
- Participate in employee counseling, corrective action, and development initiatives.
- Perform inventory adjustments and other operational transactions with financial impact in accordance with company policy.
- Exercise sound judgment regarding inventory accuracy, cost control, and operational integrity.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and escalate issues outside normal thresholds when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready operational records and documentation.
- Support the Vice President of Operations on strategic initiatives and special projects.
- Represent the Operations Department on cross-functional initiatives and process improvement projects.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining standard operating procedures across Operations functions.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and service levels.
- Maintain effective communication with Operations leadership and cross-functional departments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Significant experience in warehouse, logistics, distribution, or operations leadership.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in an operations environment.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently on matters with financial impact.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with ERP systems, warehouse management systems, and shipping software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
- Experience overseeing multiple operational functions, including warehouse, logistics, RMA, warranty, and import/export.
- Previous experience serving as a manager's backup or delegated operational leader.
- Knowledge of inventory control practices and inventory accounting principles.
- Experience developing or maintaining standard operating procedures.
- Continuous improvement or Lean process improvement experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both warehouse and office environments.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and using a computer.
- Ability to safely lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; team lifting required for heavier items.
- Ability to travel occasionally to company or partner locations for operational support, meetings, or training.
- Ability to work flexible hours as business needs require, including providing leadership coverage during Operations Manager absences.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, leadership, vendors, and business partners.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced operational environment.
