Job summary

Crane Worldwide Logistics LLC seeks a Transportation Operations Manager to lead a team of Transportation Coordinators, guiding hiring, training, and performance management while ensuring service excellence.

You will oversee day-to-day logistics across truckload, LTL, hotshot, and specialized services, act as escalation point for customer and carrier issues, and partner with clients to drive cost savings and service improvements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in logistics, transportation, or supply chain preferred.
  • 2–4 years proven leadership in operations or team management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Transportation Coordinators, including hiring, training, performance management, and career development.
  • Oversee day-to-day logistics across truckload, LTL, hotshot, and specialized services to ensure service excellence.
  • Serve as primary escalation point for high-level customer and carrier issues, ensuring resolution and satisfaction.
  • Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to conduct business reviews and develop transportation strategies.
  • Drive operational performance using Transportation Management System tools, reporting, and analytics.
  • Monitor metrics like on-time delivery and cost-to-serve; implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for consistency and excellence.
  • Oversee billing and financial accuracy for customers and carriers; resolve disputes and drive improvements.
  • Manage workload distribution and ensure deadlines and service commitments are met.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, sales, and finance to support initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and customer-first service.
  • Provide after-hours leadership support on a rotating basis.
  • Provide data interpretation and reporting to identify trends and opportunities.

Job description

  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of Transportation Coordinators, including hiring, training, performance management, and career development.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for high-level customer and carrier issues, ensuring resolution and client satisfaction.
  • Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to conduct business reviews, develop transportation strategies, and identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements.
  • Drive operational performance through effective use of Transportation Management System tools, reporting, and analytics.
  • Monitor key metrics service levels, on-time delivery, exception management, cost-to-serve and implement corrective action plans where needed.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency and operational excellence.
  • Oversee billing and financial accuracy for customers and carriers, resolving disputes and driving process improvements.
  • Manage workload distribution across the team, setting priorities and ensuring deadlines and service commitments are consistently met.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, sales, and finance to support customer initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and customer-first service.
  • Provide after-hours leadership support on a rotating basis, as required.

Other Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to solve complex problems under pressure.
  • Track record of managing multiple priorities and driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain preferred
  • 2–4 years of proven leadership experience in operations, logistics, or team management required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computer equipment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May require client after-hours support on nights, weekends, and/or holidays via cell phone rotation and remote equipment or via in-office tools and phones.
  • Job will require punctual attendance and regular presence on-site at the assigned work location.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States for any company in an ongoing capacity without company sponsorship
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
