Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking Management Trainees to gain hands-on training in service center operations with mentorship and the opportunity to earn a CDL. The program covers logistics, freight management, and leadership development in a fast-paced environment.

Trainees will eventually supervise shifts and learn procedures across departments, with travel to other centers (~15%). Relocation may be required after program completion as part of career progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Proficient with Word and Excel; AS400 experience helpful.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid work history and professional appearance.
• Willingness to relocate after trainee program.

Responsibilities

• Complete shift manager’s training as understudy with an experienced manager or supervisor.
• Trainees complete forklift training and production exercises on all service center jobs.
• Participate in Old Dominion Truck Driving Training (ODTDT) to obtain CDL license.
• Fill in as a supervisor on various shifts and departments.
• Develops new indicators and updates procedures as needed.
• Work in AS400 and Workday; update payroll and employee information.
• Write and submit monthly activity reports.
• Assign work to employees according to daily schedule.
• Communicate schedule to affected employees and adjust as needed.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and address issues.
• Travel ~15% to other service centers to learn operations.
