Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking candidates for its Management Trainee program in the United States. Trainees gain hands-on experience across service center operations, with mentorship and paths to supervisory roles. The program includes CDL training and leadership development.

Participants learn logistics, freight management, and team leadership, with travel to other service centers and opportunities for advancement within a growing, values-driven company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Good working knowledge of computer/PC software (Word, Excel).
• AS400 background helpful.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Solid work history and professional appearance.
• Open to relocation after trainee program.

Responsibilities

• Complete shift manager training as an understudy.
• Trainees will complete forklift training and production exercises.
• Participate in CDL training programs to obtain a license.
• Fill in as a supervisor on various shifts and departments.
• Develop new indicators and implement process improvements.
• Update payroll and employee information in Workday.
• Write and submit monthly activity reports.
• Assign work to employees based on daily schedules.
• Communicate schedules and adjust for volume levels.
• Ensure safe operation and correct any unsafe conditions.
• Travel approximately 15% to other service centers.
