Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is recruiting Management Trainees for hands-on training across service center operations, including logistics, freight management, and leadership development.

You will participate in leadership and safety programs, with opportunities to earn a CDL and advance to supervisory roles across shifts and departments. The program emphasizes teamwork, excellence, and internal growth within a large national carrier.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent
• Strong computer skills including WORD and EXCEL
• AS400 background helpful
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Solid work history and professional appearance
• Willingness to relocate after trainee program

Responsibilities

• Complete shift manager’s training as an understudy with an experienced manager
• Participate in forklift training and production exercises
• Join Old Dominion Truck Driving Training program to obtain CDL license
• Fill in as a supervisor on various shifts and departments
• Develop new indicators and update procedures to improve operations
• Maintain records of efficiency, quality, cost and loads
• Support payroll and employee information updates in Workday
• Prepare and submit monthly activity reports
• Assign work to employees per daily schedule
• Monitor safety and equipment conditions and address issues
• Travel approximately 15% to other service centers for learning
