Job summary

Recology seeks an Operations Supervisor for its Organics Facility to supervise operations personnel and routing drivers to ensure efficient services. The role involves balancing workloads, monitoring performance, and enforcing safety policies on routes.

The ideal candidate has leadership and supervisory experience in waste/logistics settings, with a valid driver’s license and a preference for bilingual abilities.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Management experience in waste industry/recycling programs, transportation, production and logistics operations or related field.
• Principles of employee training, supervision, and evaluation.
• Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Assigns employees to routes and pickups to balance workload.
• Ensures route completions and analyzes routes for improvements.
• Monitors operations and enforces safety policies on routes.
• Resolves customer service problems with drivers and responds to inquiries and complaints.
• Recommends rate adjustments and helps resolve billing disputes with management approval.
• Generates and analyzes operational reports and provides recommendations.
• Knows rates to ensure correct billing and assists in collecting delinquent accounts.
• Performs or reviews pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Investigates and reports worker injuries, accidents, and incidents.
• Maintains time records and manages attendance, providing feedback.
• Drives trucks as needed.
• Ensures adherence to policies and collective bargaining agreement where applicable.
• May dispatch or back-up dispatch duties.
• May participate in community and business meetings on behalf of the company.
• Other duties as assigned.
