Job summary

Recology is seeking an Operations Supervisor for our Materials Recovery Facility/Transfer Station to lead the operations team and manage day-to-day supervision of services. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and efficient production workflows in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates will have 3+ years in waste/ recycling operations, proven supervisory skills, and a strong command of safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Three years in waste industry, recycling, or related operations management.
• Supervisory experience in transportation, production, or logistics.
• Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations and workers’ compensation procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data-driven decision making.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to train and evaluate staff.

Responsibilities

• Schedules employees and assigns to balance workload and cover absences.
• Adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and improve efficiency.
• Monitors operations to ensure safe, efficient performance and equipment use.
• Checks incoming/outgoing material for quality standards.
• Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance team.
• Motivates workers and resolves work problems; enforces safety rules.
• Coordinates with other supervisors to align shifts and activities.
• Investigates injuries and incidents; documents findings for management.
• Identifies rule infractions and assists in corrections; enforces collective bargaining agreements.
• May perform payroll data entry and other administrative tasks.
• Capable of working any assigned shift and handling other duties as needed.
