Job summary

Forward Air Corp. seeks an Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day multimodal transportation and logistics activities. You will guide frontline teams, drive safety, quality, and customer service, and ensure adherence to standard work and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will coordinate workloads, monitor resources, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet service targets in a fast-paced, on-site Georgia operation.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• Forklift certification required; ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years experience in warehouse/distribution/transportation operations, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience leading frontline teams in fast-paced environments.
• English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Knowledge of WMS/TMS/ERP and reporting tools.
• Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen experience appreciated.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment (MHE).
• Physical demands include 8–12 hours standing/walking and lifting up to 50–75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operational activities across logistics workflows.
• Coordinate and prioritize work assignments for team members to meet targets.
• Ensure safe, accurate handling of inventory and freight on time.
• Monitor workflow, labor allocation, and equipment usage for efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory policies.
• Lead safety observations and safety initiatives.
• Adhere to SOPs and change control processes.
• Support audits and compliance activities.
• Lead problem-solving for service issues and delays.
• Participate in continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma/5S/Kaizen.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cost control, and service.
• Respond to issues in real time and escalate when needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (transportation, planning, customer service).
• Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching to frontline staff.
• Support training and onboarding.
• All other duties as assigned.
