Job summary

ATI Specialty Materials in Monroe, NC is offering a 2027 Summer Internship for an Operations Support Intern. This 10-week program provides hands-on exposure to continuous improvement, 5S, and standardization in a manufacturing setting.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams, gain practical skills in process improvement, data analysis, and project planning, and have opportunities for professional development and networking with ATI leaders.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Interest in continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, operational efficiency, and process optimization.
• Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and develop practical solutions.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; able to work independently and cross-functional.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing/plant environment and participate in hands-on projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support CI projects to improve operational performance.
• Participate in 5S initiatives across areas.
• Evaluate current practices, identify opportunities, and propose improvements.
• Help standardize processes and reduce variation across shifts.
• Support development and implementation of Mill Instructions and Operational Procedures.
• Collaborate with Operations and cross-functional teams on problem-solving and CI initiatives.
