Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Operations Associate/Monitor Technician (OA/MT) to join the Medical/Surgical team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. This part-time role supports bed management, patient flow, and real-time communication across care teams.

Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac equipment, ensuring patient safety, managing records, and assisting hospitalists with rounds and daily tasks.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Telemetry/dysrhythmia training (when applicable).
• Experience in hospital/healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate admissions, discharges, transfers, bed assignments, patient transport, and discharge readiness; monitor bed status and support patient throughput.
• Serve as central communication resource for nurses, physicians, case managers, ancillary departments, patients/families and hospital teams; provide shift handoffs and follow-up.
• Accurately use hospital systems and maintain patient records, logs, forms, staffing assignments, schedules, supplies, and unit documentation.
• Support Hospitalists and medical/surgical teams with rounds, consults, follow-up appointments, and daily tasks.
• Monitor cardiac equipment, report abnormal rhythms, maintain monitoring devices, provide one-to-one observation as required, and initiate emergency procedures.
• Maintain department competencies and follow policies and procedures.

Baystate Health is seeking an Operations Associate/Monitor Technician (OA/MT) to join our Medical/ Surgical team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Medical/Surgical team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.

Operations Associate/ Monitor Technician Responsibilities Include:

• Bed Management & Patient Flow: Coordinates admissions, discharges, transfers, bed assignments, patient transport, and discharge readiness; monitors bed status and supports efficient patient throughput.
• Clinical & Team Communication: Serves as a central communication resource for nurses, physicians, case managers, ancillary departments, patients/families, and hospital teams; provides shift handoffs and facilitates timely follow-up.
• Administrative & Unit Support: Accurately uses hospital systems and maintains patient records, logs, forms, staffing assignments, schedules, supplies, and other unit documentation and resources.
• Hospitalist & Care Team Support: Supports Hospitalists and medical/surgical teaching teams with rounds, consults, follow-up appointments, daily assignments, and other operational needs.
• Patient Safety & Monitoring: Observes cardiac monitors, reports abnormal rhythms, maintains monitoring equipment, provides one-to-one observation as required, and initiates appropriate emergency procedures.
• Clinical Competency & Compliance: Maintains required departmental competencies, including telemetry/dysrhythmia training and CPR/BLS certification when applicable, and follows all established policies and procedures.

No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
