Job summary

AtlantiCare is seeking an Operating Room Assistant Technician to support the surgical team under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The role includes preparing the sterile field, assisting as retractor/heart holder, moving and positioning patients, and transporting equipment and specimens.

You will help maintain a clean, safe OR environment, document care activities, and communicate observations to the Clinical Associate as part of a collaborative care team.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of surgical technician assistant program administered by ARMC.
• License/Certification: BLS certification required.
• Experience: Preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgical team during operating procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Provides direct patient care as a retractor/heart holder during surgery.
• Arranges sterile setup, adjusts lights, cleans the operating room and performs skin preparation before surgery.
• Helps move and position the patient and transports patients and equipment.
• Collects test specimens as directed and documents patient care activities.
