Job summary

Down East Community Hospital is seeking a Surgical Services Support Technician to maintain clean and safe operating rooms and procedure spaces. You will support the perioperative team with turnover, supply coordination, and specimen transport to promote efficient surgical operations and patient care.

Responsibilities include cleaning per infection control policies, equipment handling, and assisting with routine duties in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior hospital or healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge of infection prevention practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes operating rooms and related areas between cases and at day end.
• Assist with room turnover for scheduled procedures.
• Transport specimens to laboratory following safety protocols.
• Stock and organize surgical supplies and linens.
• Move equipment, stretchers, and carts as directed.
• Assist with waste removal per OSHA guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of sub-sterile areas and storage.
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs during/after procedures.
• Report equipment issues or supply shortages to staff.
• Participate in department meetings and required trainings.
