Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This full-time, day-shift role emphasizes sterile technique, patient positioning, and efficient room turnover.

You will monitor supplies, assist with positioning, maintain aseptic standards, and collaborate with the OR team to provide compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalency required.
• Experience: Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Effective Communication Skills
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication. Math computation skills.
• BLS healthcare provider training required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with placing patient in designated surgical position (supine, prone, lateral, lithotomy).
• Monitors positioning and traction devices as appropriate.
• Verifies integrity of sterile packaging and sterilization indicators.
• Opens sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique.
• Assists with room turnover.
• Adheres to aseptic technique principles.
• Maintains OR supply inventory and linen.
• All other duties as assigned.
