Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Ohio is seeking an OR Assistant to support the surgical team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will perform patient care tasks in a setting focused on dignity and compassion, adhering to hospital policies and sterile technique.

Responsibilities include positioning patients for surgery, maintaining sterile fields, room turnover, and assisting with supplies and equipment. Prior healthcare exposure and BLS certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills.
• Demonstrates interpersonal, verbal and written communication; math computation skills.
• BLS healthcare provider training required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with placing patient in the designated surgical position (e.g. supine, prone, lateral, lithotomy).
• Monitors positioning and traction devices as appropriate.
• Verifies integrity of sterile packaging and sterilization indicators.
• Opens sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique.
• Assists with room turnover.
• Adheres to aseptic technique principles.
• Maintains OR supply inventory and linen.
• All other duties as assigned.
