Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking an Operating Room Assistant who will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide essential patient care in the OR setting. You will perform procedures to ensure patient safety, comfort, and efficient room turnover, while adhering to hospital policies and sterile technique.

Responsibilities include positioning patients, verifying sterile packaging, maintaining OR supplies, and collaborating with the surgical team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• BLS healthcare provider training required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with positioning patients in designated surgical positions (supine, prone, lateral, lithotomy).
• Monitor positioning and traction devices as appropriate.
• Verify integrity of sterile packaging and sterilization indicators.
• Open sterile supplies and instruments using aseptic technique.
• Assist with room turnover.
• Adhere to aseptic technique principles.
• Maintain OR supply inventory and linen.
• All other duties as assigned.
