Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network, Inc. is seeking a Patient Transporter to assist nursing staff in the operating room by positioning, transfers of anesthetized patients, and cleaning operating rooms after cases.

You will provide general non-technical assistance to the nursing staff and help ensure a smooth surgical flow. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, mature and conscientious behavior, and BLS certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrates mature, conscientious behavior and sound judgment.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association, PA) within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Participates in activities designed to increase the productivity and efficiency of the operating room.
• Promotes a positive patient surgical experience by partnering with the surgical team to provide excellence in customer service within the surgical environment with age-appropriate responsibilities.
• Assists with the transportation of patients to and from the operating room.
• Ensures availability of instruments and supplies needed and assists with opening of supplies and instruments.
• Provides emotional support during pre-operative contact with the patient, as observed by the unit and department nurses.
• Performs effective cleaning and disinfection of the operating rooms after surgical cases
• Performs appropriate care and handling of patient specimens
