Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking an OR Scheduling Coordinator to monitor and optimize operating room utilization, coordinate urgent and emergent surgeries, and ensure proper documentation.

The role involves communication with staff, surgeons, and external schedulers, with a standard 40-hour workweek in a standard office environment. Prior scheduling experience in a medical setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• One year of medical office scheduling experience preferred.
• Background check per regulated area requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor OR scheduling to optimize block utilization.
• Assist in scheduling urgent and emergent surgeries/procedures.
• Coordinate equipment needs and communicate with staff and service lines.
• Maintain OR schedule and communicate add-on cases or cancellations.
• Document staffing calls and prepare peri-procedure documents.
• Generate daily schedules and end-of-shift reports.
• Enter anesthesia assignments when required.
