Job summary

Medical City Denton is seeking an Operating Room RN to contribute to exceptional patient care in a fast-paced surgical setting. The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to universal protocols, and continuous improvement in peri-operative processes.

You will evaluate patients, educate families, manage IV therapies, verify surgical sites, and participate in time-outs and debriefings while maintaining patient safety and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• One year of Operating Room RN experience required.
• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• RN: Registered Nurse; Associate Degree required, Bachelor’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient with IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with providers, surgeons, and OR staff as part of a dynamic team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and technical skills to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes throughout shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
