Job summary

Medical City McKinney is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse for weekend coverage (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 7am-7pm) to join a collaborative surgical team. You will evaluate patients pre-operatively, educate families about procedures, and prepare for surgery, including IV therapy and site verification, while following universal protocols.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality care, participate in safety initiatives, and be on-call during select

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN (Registered Nurse) licensure is required.
• Associate Degree; Bachelor’s Degree must be completed within 18 months of start date.
• 1+ year of OR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and perioperative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols per hospital policy.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including providers, surgeons, and techs.
• Apply nursing process with critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes throughout the shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment, and follow-up.
