Job summary

Qualifications

• Active Florida RN license (or APRN)
• Minimum 1 year OR nursing experience
• BLS certification current
• ALS certification current
• EPIC EMR experience required
• EPIC assessment on first day of employment
• Independently manage nursing responsibilities in surgical environment
• Willingness to participate in on-call coverage
• Intermediate computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to surgical patients per standards and policies.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans and evaluate outcomes.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative team for safe care.
• Anticipate needs of surgeons and team during procedures.
• Apply clinical judgment to detect changes in patient conditions.
• Administer medications per protocols and dosing guidelines.
• Document accurately in the EMR.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and health team.
• Provide thorough handoff reports and ensure continuity between shifts.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Serve as a preceptor for new nurses and students.
• Maintain current competencies via continuing education.
• Participate in required on-call coverage.
