Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room (NSG-Operating Room) working full-time, days (6:30am–4:30pm). The role involves executing professional nursing care per physician plans to ensure patient comfort and safety, assessing needs, planning and implementing treatment, and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

You willDirect and educate the nursing team, participate in onboarding, and document care progress.

Qualifications

• Professional nursing knowledge acquired through completion of a two year accredited nursing program.
• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
• BLS certification and de-escalation training.
• ACLS certification; TCAR certification (if applicable).
• For Emergency Dept: PALS, TNCC within first year; for Procedural Areas: 1 year procedural experience; for OR: relevant OR experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient health data with patient and family involvement.
• Performs initial assessments based on patient presentation.
• Records data on nursing assessment.
• Demonstrates awareness of age-specific and cultural needs.
• Performs ongoing assessments per policy.
• Incorporates discharge planning into admission process.
• Develops and communicates a plan of care.
• Monitors patient progress and adjusts plan as needed.
• Collaborates with the health team to meet patient needs.
• Delivers patient education and safety measures.
