Qualifications

• Current New York State RN license.
• BLS, ACLS, TCAR, PALS and TNCC required within specified timeframes.
• CPI and BERT training for Behavioral Health RNs within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data with patient, family and providers involved.
• Perform initial assessment based on patient presentation.
• Document nursing data in the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Acknowledge age/culture-specific needs in care planning.
• Conduct ongoing assessments per department policy.
• Incorporate discharge planning into admission process.
• Analyze data to identify problems and outcomes.
• Communicate outcomes to patient, family and care team.
• Develop and update a plan of care to reach outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Collect patient health data by involving the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Perform initial assessment based on the patient's presentation.
• Record relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate awareness of the special needs of each age group or culture served.
• Perform ongoing assessments as established by department policy.
• Incorporate discharge planning into the admission process.
• Analyze assessment data to identify problems and expected outcomes.
• Communicate expected outcomes to the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
• Develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
• Document the initial plan of care and provide updates as required.

Requirements

Education:

• Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two-year training at an accredited School of Nursing.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the Operating Room for external candidates; relevant work experience in the OR for internal candidates.

Licenses & Certifications:

• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• TCAR Certification (SICU & PACU within the first year).
• PALS and TNCC for Emergency Department RNs (within the first year).
• CPI and BERT training for Behavioral Health RNs (within the first 6 months).
