Job summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital in Houston seeks a Clinical Nurse Educator (Operating Room) to lead evidence-based nursing education and staff development. The role focuses on orientation, curriculum design, and competency evaluation for OR staff and non-licensed personnel.

You will develop curricula, delivery methods, and assessment tools, while promoting best practice standards and ongoing clinical excellence in a dynamic perioperative team.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or active compact-state license.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other clinical field.
• Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other clinical field preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Three (3) years' experience working in the Operating Room.

Responsibilities

• Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Designs and identifies educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences.
• Develops activities to achieve outcomes related to deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill and practice.
• Plans educational content delivery that encourages learner engagement.
• Identifies and provides opportunities for lifelong learning progression.
• Determines staff education needs based on needs assessment and organizational goals.
• Creates, develops, implements, and evaluates new staff education including orientation.
• Develops curricula, instructional materials, tests and evaluation tools and updates them with current evidence.
• Promotes evidence-based educational methods and technologies to develop nursing expertise.
• Ensures staff meet required competencies, annual and unit-based.
