Job summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator for the Operating Room to advance nursing practice and patient care through evidence-based education.

The role develops and delivers orientation and ongoing education, designs curricula and evaluation tools, and partners with clinical staff to close knowledge and skill gaps while ensuring unit competencies and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse in TX or with a valid compact license.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred in Nursing or Healthcare Administration.
• BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Three years’ OR nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Designs and identifies educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences.
• Develops activities to achieve outcomes related to identified deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill and practice.
• Plans educational content delivery that encourages learner engagement.
• Identifies and develops lifelong learning strategies for staff.
• Utilizes staff progression models to provide opportunities for skill mastery.
• Ensures staff education needs are identified based on assessments.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates new staff education including orientation.
• Develops curricula, instructional materials, tests and evaluation tools.
• Keeps current on best practice standards and communicates revisions.
