Job summary

GEICO is seeking an Infrastructure Automation Engineer to advance our private cloud automation and fleet management. You will build and maintain tools that streamline OS/firmware updates, testing, and remote hardware management across OpenStack-enabled infrastructure.

You’ll collaborate with OpenStack, Ceph, and Hybrid Cloud teams, applying IaC and scripting to improve reliability and efficiency in a large-scale data center environment.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python, Go, Rust, or C.
• Experience with IaC tools like Ansible and Terraform.
• OS and firmware management in a private cloud environment.
• Experience with Redfish, BMC, and IPMI for remote server management.

Responsibilities

• Drive innovation of OS and firmware update strategies with emphasis on testing, stability, performance, security, and remote management.
• Develop automation tools for testing servers and OS images.
• Monitor server fleet health and performance for upgrades, maintenance, and anomaly detection.
• Create automation scripts using IaC (Ansible, Terraform) and languages like Python, Go, Rust.
• Collaborate with OpenStack, Ceph storage, and Hybrid Cloud teams to align automation needs with private cloud goals.
• Develop hardware lifecycle strategies from procurement to decommissioning.
• Track industry innovations in CPU, chipset, storage, GPU, firmware, and BMC to guide adaptation.
