Job summary

GEICO in Palo Alto is seeking a Senior Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain OpenStack-based private clouds. You will work with Distinguished and Staff Engineers to improve observability, performance, and operability, leveraging Python, Ansible, and GitHub Workflows to automate infrastructure.

The role emphasizes CI/CD for infra and apps, containerization with Docker/Kubernetes, and collaboration with development, security, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting and observability in cloud environments.
• Experience with Grafana and Prometheus for monitoring and dashboards.
• Experience with performance tuning and system optimization.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and OpenStack.
• Hands-on automation using Python and Ansible; GitHub Workflows a plus.
• CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) and scripting proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Improve monitoring, observability and performance of deployed systems.
• Design, deploy, and manage OpenStack-based cloud environments.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and playbooks using Python, Ansible, and GitHub Workflows.
• Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application delivery.
• Support containerization initiatives (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in cloud and automation workflows.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams.
• Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.
• Participate in on-call and operational support as needed.
