Job summary

GEICO in Seattle is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Automation Engineer to help transform our private cloud operations. You will build tools and automation for servers, OS images, and hardware, emphasizing reliability and scalable processes.

You will work with OpenStack, Ceph storage, and Hybrid Cloud teams, implement IaC with Ansible and Terraform, and apply programming in Python, Go, or Rust to improve fleet management.

Qualifications

• Experience with Python, Go, Rust or C in engineering roles.
• Hands-on with OS and firmware management in private cloud environments.
• Experience automating server fleets and infrastructure using IaC and scripting.

Responsibilities

• Drive OS and firmware update strategies with testing and remote management.
• Develop tools and automation for server fleet testing.
• Monitor fleet health and performance; plan upgrades and maintenance.
• Create automation scripts using IaC and Python/Go/Rust.
• Collaborate with OpenStack, Storage, and Hybrid Cloud teams on automation needs.
• Develop hardware lifecycle strategies from procurement to decommissioning.
